Title: Control design of complex engineering systems.
Speaker: Viay Vittal, Electrical Engineering Department, Iowa State University
Title: Large Scale Power Systems an Overview: Challenges in Control. Abstract: This talk will provide a brief overview of power system representation for analysis and control. Various topics related to challenges in controlling such systems will be identified. A sample of results dealing with robust control design for such systems will be presented.
Location and time: 1219 Coover, 4:10-5pm
Speaker: Prof. Rolf Henriksen, Electrical Engineering Department, Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
Title: Subspace Identification of Linear Systems
Abstract: The seminar series will mostly be focused on the so-called N4SID method (Numerical algorithms for Subspace State Space System Identification), primarily developed by the Belgian researchers P. Van Overschee and B. De Moor. The method’s relationship with other subspace identification methods, eg CVA (Canonical Variate Analysis developed by W. E. Larimore) and MOESP (Multivariable Output-Error State sPace developed primarily by M. Verhaegen). An overview of the background material, including the necessary mathematical tools, will be given. Lecture notes will be available.
